Abstract

The overview article examines the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic and isolation regime on gender inequality. The deepening of gender inequality is induced by the structure of employ-ment with a predominance of women in industries where the burden on workers, including psychological pressure, has increased due to the pandemic, as well as in industries where the threat of job loss due to the crisis caused by COVID-19 is higher. The closure of children’s educa-tion institutions has increased the amount of unpaid work performed by women in households, which puts them at greater risk of losing paid work due to reduced opportunities to maintain productivity in the workplace and fulfill their career potential. Moreover, the implementa-tion of the isolation regime has led to an increase in violence against women.
