The study aims at researching the influence of national cultural peculiarities on the choice of strategy in intercultural conflict resolution. The article looks at different perceptions of conflict in various cultures and analyses five major strategies of conflict resolution: competition, cooperation, avoidance, accommodation and compromise. Referring to classifications of cultures by E. Hall and G. Hofstede as well as Intercultural Conflict Style Inventory of M. Hammer the article notes national peculiarities of behavior in conflict resolution contrasting low- and high-context cultures or individual and collective cultures. The study concludes that it is necessary to develop cultural sensitivity and cultural competence to achieve an effective conflict resolution.
