The purpose of this article is to review and systematize publications devoted to the analysis of socio-environmental problems of Russian regions in the mirror of modern Russian academic journals (2021–2024). The main directions of research in this area are highlighted. The socio-ecological problems faced by residents of various territories of the Russian Federation are shown. The ratings of the ecological state of the country's regions are based on various indicators and indexes. The article highlights the results of research on the role of city-forming enterprises in the creation of a negative socio-ecological situation in the regions, as well as their role in its improvement. The factors of environmental protests of the population are considered, the results of the influence of socio-environmental problems on the direction of migration flows of the population are shown. Promising trends of socio-logical research in this field are formulated.
